I think that Crichton's interest in artists like Jasper Johns influenced a new 'Pop' approach to the look of this novel. By including many documents, charts and statistics from 'real life', he increases the sense of inescapable scientific doom.
Made into the 1971 movie by Robert Wise, starring Arthur Hill, Kate Reid & David Wayne.
