Cecil Beaton

Diaries Volume 4: 1948-55, The Strenuous Years

London: Weidenfeld and Nicolson, 1973

First UK printing

Beaton's extraordinary knack of meeting the most interesting people of his time does not deter him from acid assessments of their characters.

He is particularly appalled by Evelyn Waugh, whilst cheerfully admitting they are both the most appalling snobs.

His deepest affection seems to have been for the women he counts as friends: Diana Cooper, Greta Garbo and Audrey Hepburn among them.

Book jacket shows wear to back and corners.
