The Hasty Pudding Theatre
New York: ADC publishing, 1986
First printing
An appropriately deferential account of the venerable (1795) debating club at Harvard, where corn-meal puddings were hastily consumed.
By 1837, the mock trials had become theatre with costumes, which slowly evolved into an annual revue, in the style of an English Pantomime, with men playing the female roles and an ever-popular 'Chorus Line' number.
Inexplicably, the tradition continues to this day, with audiences of up to 12,000 and extra performances in New York and Bermuda each year, during Spring break.
