What is Modern Painting?

What Is Modern Painting?
New York: MoMA, 1946.
First softcover edition.
The second in an introductory series to the Arts by the director of MoMA at the time.
No more than a pamphlet, it evokes the excitement of a new era, as Matisse , Picasso and a very few others began to be accepted by the conservative American establishment.
This was before the day when one board member would resign from MoMA over the purchase of a Rothko, and take his collection to the Metropolitan Museum.
